Area School Districts
District 2 – Harrison
Bounded on the south by Academy Boulevard between
Hwy. 115 and Municipal Blvd. and on the north by Airport Road, Harrison
School District serves the South and Southeast parts of greater
Colorado Springs. Nearly 3,000 students attend its 13 elementary
schools, three middle schools and three high schools.
District 3 – Widefield/Security
The communities of Widefield, Security, Southmoor,
Clearview and Peaceful Valley in the southeast part of the city
are served by the Widefield School District. With more than 8,000
students the district operates one pre-school, nine elementaries,
three middle schools and three high schools. The district also operates
the only high school radio station in the area.
District 8 – Fountain/Ft. Carson
The Fountain/Ft. Carson District has a high density
of students with parents in the military. Its more than 4,000 students
attend school at six elementary, two middle and two high schools.
District 11 – Central/Northeast
District 11 is the largest school district in the
Pike Peak region with more than 30,000 primary and secondary students
in 39 elementary schools, nine middle schools and five high schools.
The district also boasts a Gifted and Talented program along with
accelerated classes at all secondary schools. Several “charter”
schools within the district serve kindergarten through 12th grade.
Palmer High School offers a baccalaureate program in which students
graduate from high school with one year of college credit.
District 12 – Cheyenne Mountain
Encompassing the Cheyenne Canyon, Broadmoor, Skyway
Park and Broadmoor Bluff areas, the Cheyenne Mountain School District
has nine schools, including an early intervention preschool, six
elementary, one junior high and one high school. Total enrollment
is more than 4,400 students. The district also operates a K-8 charter
school. Over 90% of graduating seniors go on to college or post-secondary
education.
District 14 – Manitou Springs
Serving the areas west of Colorado Springs –
Manitou Park, Chipita Park and Green Mountain Falls, the Manitou
School District has more than 1,200 students enrolled in its two
elementary schools, middle school, high school and summer arts academy.
District 20 – Academy
Located in the fastest growing area of the city,
this district has experienced annual growth of more than 6% per
year since 1996. Academy School District serves the Briargate, Gleneagle,
Air Force Academy, Black Forest, Rockrimmon and Woodmen Valley with
its 16 elementary, four middle and five high schools.
District 38 – Lewis Palmer/Monument
District 38 serves the Tri-Lakes area of Monument,
Woodmoor and Palmerlake. It has more than doubled in size in the
past decade and has more than 5,000 students enrolled in its five
elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The
district also sponsors one “charter” school.
District 49 – Falcon
The Falcon School District covers the eastern fringes
of Colorado Springs to Falcon. Its 12 schools – seven elementaries,
two middle and two high schools – operate on a modified year-round
schedule. With a current enrollment of more than 8,300 students,
Falcon is one of the fast growing districts in the state of Colorado.
District RE-2 – Woodland Park (West of District 14)
With nearly 3,000 students enrolled in its five schools,
Woodland Park serves the Ute Pass area of greater Colorado Springs.
A new elementary school and middle school were recently constructed
to augment its three existing facilities.
